The east side of Eaglecrest Ski Area, including the Summer Trail (Service Road), will be closed to uphill and downhill traffic on Tuesday, August 1 from 10am – 6pm. The closure will be in affect from the base of Black Bear Chair to the top of both Black Bear and Ptarmigan Chairs so crews can blast rock out of the area above the Throat.

During this period, the top of the mountain will be accessible via the Hilda Valley Drainage or the west side of the mountain.

“Since August 1 is the start of deer season, we wanted to get this message out to all hunters as well as hikers and bikers,” said Jeffra Clough, Director of Sales and Marketing. “The closure will not affect Pittman’s Ridge or any of the area outside the ski area boundary.”

Signs will be posted at the Base, the bottom of Black Bear Chair and the top of both Black Bear and Ptarmigan Chairlifts. Staff will be available during the closure to answer any questions.

Eaglecrest Ski Area staff would also like to remind the community that hunting is not permitted within the ski area boundary.
