Greetings from the glacier,
When today’s big snow storms finally cleared they revealed a new, fresh calving of bright blue ice. Because snow is piled on the iceberg this event must have occurred before noon to allow afternoon snow to build up. Our best visual for most of today was the stack of snow shovels that we used to clear the stairs and walkways 3-4 times!
Reminder that Friday night’s Fireside Lecture will be presented by Sonia Nagorski and Eran Hood from UAS on the university’s black carbon study and how this substance affects our glaciers.
Elevators are still under construction and not operable so stairs or the outdoor ramp are your access options. See you then!
