Eaglecrest Ski Area is excited to announce that they are now accepting applications for the 35th Annual Learn to Ski Weekend on January 28 and 29. Learn to Ski Weekend is a great opportunity for third, fourth and fifth graders in Juneau who have never skied before. At Eaglecrest Ski Area they will learn a new skill while enjoying the local ski area.

A random drawing of the applications will select the 40 winners to receive bus transportation, ski rentals, lift tickets, ski lessons and lunch both Saturday and Sunday.

Through generous sponsorship from Mendenhall Auto and Subaru, Eaglecrest Ski Area has been able to continue the tradition of Learn to Ski Weekend and encourage the youth of Juneau to experience the outdoors while learning something new.

“We’re thankful for Subaru and Mendenhall Auto and their ongoing support in this program,” said Snowsports School and Marketing Manager Jeffra Clough. “Over the past 35 years we’ve taught over 1,200 youth how to ski, and many have gone on to be ski patrollers and instructors in the industry.”

Nick Svinicki is currently a ski instructor and coordinator of school programs at Eaglecrest Ski Area – and a former participant of Learn to Ski Weekend. “This program taught me to love sliding on snow at a young age and I’m excited that we can share that with future skiers,” said Svinicki.
