Happy holidays!

The snow is finally starting to fall, which means that Eaglecrest is open! Here’s to all the fun winter activities – skiing, theater, musical performances, and visual arts – that we and our visitors get to enjoy. Many folks might think that this is a slow time for our office, but that’s hardly the case. For example, did you know that during the winter months, the Travel Juneau Visitor Services team updates visitor and volunteer materials, creates new materials, prepares for volunteer training, and maintains our service sites at the airport and ferry terminal?

We do like to take time to plan parties, too, and hope you’re planning to attend the annual meeting on Thursday, December 8, at 5:30PM at the Twisted Fish. Gin Anderson will announce this year’s highlights and our new board members, and Carl Ramseth will provide an overview of Travel Juneau’s financial position. And, as we did last year, attendees will have the opportunity to spread some cheer via St. Vincent de Paul, as Travel Juneau staff will be collecting toys, gift wrap, and cash to be delivered to St. Vincent’s early next week. Help us make the holidays a little merrier for a few Juneau families.  We look forward to seeing everyone.

Be sure to mark your calendars for January 18, 2017, the date for the 32nd Annual Community Welcome Reception, sponsored by the Alaska Committee. The Committee is currently soliciting items for the 62 gift baskets to be distributed to legislators/staff at the event, which is also an opportunity to talk with them about the value of the tourism industry to the state of Alaska.  If your business would like to donate a gift or cash to support the reception, please let me know and I’ll forward the donation forms to you. You can also contact Taylor Kesterson at the Juneau Chamber of Commerce, 463-3488 for more information.

Many thanks for being part of Travel Juneau!
